JAMMU: The 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was observed with great reverence at the Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademy Headquarters, Roopnagar, Jammu, on Monday.
The tribute programme was organized under the chairmanship of B. R. Kundal (IAS, Retd), Working President of the Akademy.
Several distinguished members of the Akademy were present on the occasion, including Ruplal Bharati, H.R. Phounsa, R. L. Bhagat, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Atri, Swarn Lal, Shashi Kant, and others.
In his address, B. R. Kundal reflected on the inspiring life, relentless struggles, and monumental contributions of Dr. Ambedkar toward social justice, equality, and the empowerment of marginalized communities.
Earlier a grand Ambedkar Rally was ceremoniously flagged off by Kundal on April 10, 2025 which started from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar and culminated at Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu.
Also, on April 11, 2025, he also delivered a Presidential address at Ambedkar Hall, Nagbani, where large number of locals had gathered to celebrate Birth Anniversaries of Mahatma Jyotiba Rao Phule and Babasaheb Ambedkar.
In his address, he emphasized upon the relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in present-day India.
Later on the day, the committee members of BDSA attended the “Ambedkar Mela” at Ambedkar Chowk, Gandhi Nagar paying fitting homage to Babasaheb’s enduring legacy and his vision.
