Man wanted in attempt to murder case nabbed after one year

JAMMU: In a breakthrough, Jammu Police has arrested an accused involved in a brutal attempt to murder case that had remained under investigation for over a year. The arrest highlights the unwavering efforts of law enforcement in ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.

Accused in police custody along with vehicles used in commissioning of crime.

The case dates back to March 19, 2024, when a written complaint was lodged by Makhan Lal, son of Paras Ram, resident of Jandrah, Dansal, Jhajjar Kotli, at Police Station Nowabad. As per the complaint, two unidentified individuals forcibly entered a room at Grand-in Hotel, Sant Market, Jewel, Jammu, on the intervening night of March 18-19, 2024. The accused attacked the victim, Sanjay Kumar alias Kaalu, with sharp-edged weapons, inflicting severe injuries on his head, arms, and legs before fleeing the scene. Consequently, an FIR No. 43/2024 under Sections 307/452/34 IPC and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at PS Nowabad.
Acting on intelligence inputs, technical surveillance, and CCTV analysis, a special team led by SHO Nowabad Sh. Deepak Pathania under the supervision of Dy.SP Headquarters and overall guidance of SP City North Jammu, identified the assailants.
Following meticulous investigation, a raid was conducted at a suspected location, leading to the arrest of Dheeraj Kumar alias Laddi, son of Madan Lal, resident of Ward No. 02, near Radha Krishan Mandir, Jassore, R.S. Pura, Jammu.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, revealing that an old business rivalry with the victim was the motive behind the attack.
Based on his disclosure, police recovered one pistol, one magazine, two live rounds, and a baseball bat used in the crime. Additionally, the vehicle involved in the incident was seized.
Further investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining accused at the earliest.
