JAMMU: In a progressive stride towards implementing the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Principal JKPS Kunjwani, Rajesh Rathore, conducted a follow-up workshop on the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) with a focused emphasis on the five developmental domains critical to a child’s overall growth.
The workshop aimed to deepen educators’ understanding of the HPC as a transformative assessment tool that goes beyond conventional marks-based evaluations.

By capturing a 360-degree view of a child’s development, HPC empowers teachers and parents to support learners in becoming competent, confident, and compassionate individuals. The session featured an in-depth exploration of the five developmental domains:
Cognitive Development: Educators were encouraged to design learning experiences that nurture curiosity and independent thinking. This domain plays a crucial role in developing metacognition and lifelong learning habits.
Social and Emotional Development: Teachers explored strategies to help students manage emotions, build positive relationships, and develop a strong sense of self. Emotional intelligence was highlighted as a cornerstone of personal and professional success.
Physical and Motor Development: The importance of integrating yoga, sports, and movement-based learning into the school routine was emphasized. A sound body, it was noted, supports a sound mind, laying the foundation for active, healthy living.
Language and Literacy Development: Participants discussed methods to strengthen oral and written expression across subjects and in multiple languages. Fluency in language was recognized as a key enabler of critical thought and social connection.
Creative and Aesthetic Development: The role of performing and visual arts in developing imagination, innovation, and self-expression was underscored. Exposure to diverse art forms was seen as vital for cultivating sensitivity and a broader world view.
Through interactive tasks, case studies, and hands-on sessions, teachers learned to align classroom activities with developmental indicators and document student progress through narrative observations, portfolios, and peer/self-assessments.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal emphasized, “Our aim is to reimagine assessment as a tool for growth rather than judgment. The Holistic Progress Card is a step in the direction of nurturing future-ready learners who are not just academically sound but emotionally intelligent, physically active, and creatively expressive.”
The workshop concluded with reflections and action plans to integrate HPC practices into daily teaching, ensuring that every child’s learning journey is recognized, nurtured, and celebrated in its entirety.
